The SEC requires the companies file a Form S-1 filing when registering their securities; commonly referred to as a Registration Statement, it contains business and financial information about an issuer with respect to specific securities and generally proceeds the company's initial public offering (IPO).
If a newer registratant has not yet filed its first 10K, the Form S-1 can be used to understand the company's business and financial health.
